I am grateful for the work that they are doing, and it's very appreciated. Rhino 4 (and 5) and Vray are about the only thing I have on that VM, but it still feels significantly tighter than its OSX version. I was doing simple geometry for a magazine cover earlier this year, and I actually found it easier to just use VMWare and open up Rhino in WIN, because the OSX version felt so different and "incomplete." I basically use OSX as a viewer, but anything more than extremely simple editing and I jump over to WIN7 in a virtual machine. There are monthly updates, which is incredible, but besides Grasshopper (which likely won't ever be OSX) and most of the rendering suites-Maxwell studio works on OSX but none of the plugins exist-nothing still feels quite right here. Years later and there's still this disconnect. I got early beta access (I want to say around JC's studio in 4th year, I definitely had it when I studied abroad Fall of 2010) and I was amazed, but immediately felt the disconnect between OSX and WIN. You can rotate, zoom, and look around a 3D model freely using these.
#RHINO VIEWER FOR MAC FOR MAC#
You know, Rhino for Mac has come a longggg way from the initial beta. These best free Rhino File viewer software let you open and view 3DM files on Windows. I TweenCurves, undo, redo, nothing happens. I do a shell command, undo it, then try to shell again and Unknown Error. As far as I can tell once you undo a command, it breaks. I oblige happily knowing I wont be asked 10 minutes later for the exact same thing, and undo the previous 3-10 commands it took to complete the action. And even when someone is using bootcamp or parrallels and using grasshopper, there is no delete key so components just gather on the screen until I select them all and Edit - Delete them.īut the worst of all is this: In the Mac BETA I will often quickly solve the problem on their computer, and then asked to repeat the actions so they can see how I did it for future reference. I am constantly flipping through desktops, or unable to right click using the stupid f*cking iMouse, or unable to decipher whether to use cmd or ctrl key in this situation, and of course there is no "oh, that is much easier to do using a few components in grasshopper".

In the mac environment I look like an idiot.
#RHINO VIEWER FOR MAC WINDOWS#
In the case of a windows user I have no problem going up to their desktop/laptop and being able to function properly and solve their problem. I am fairly competent in Rhino 4 and 5 for windows and I often have requests from other students to help them out with a Rhino problem. I have terrible luck with Rhino Mac BETA.
